The News Summit for Staff of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has ended in Bauchi with a call on editors, reporters, and supervisors to prioritize National Integration in their daily reportage.
The summit also encouraged Zonal and FM stations to integrate digital Journalism into the traditional media space towards attracting the younger generation into their fold of listeners.
Stakeholders in the journalism profession made the call in their interactions during the 2023 FRCN News Summit held in Bauchi.
One of the Resource Persons, Professor Umar Pate of Federal University, Kashere in Gombe State said as a government establishment, Radio Nigeria has a responsibility to sustain credibility and fairness in its news and programmes contents.
In a Paper titled “Sustaining FRCN News Credibility in Digital Era”, Professor Pate who advocated safety and better remuneration for working journalists, stressed the importance of Media in national growth and development.
On FRCN House Style, news reporting, and editing, the Zonal Director North-Central, Haruna Idris emphasized that strict adherence to the corporation’s rules and guidelines by all substations would add value to the general operations of the organization.
Some of the Participants Emmanuel Gwaza from Markurdi and Azizatu Sani from Headquarters Abuja promised to make a difference when they go back to their duty posts.
They also appreciated FRCN for the opportunity and called for the sustenance of such training.
