I have observed rather keenly a desperate attempt by some section of the online media to tarnish the image of the SSS, the last standing organization of
repute in the country. I am amazed the length that sinister motives can push
humans to deface another human being or organization, and for what? At first, it
was coordinated messages from the print media ranting about how the SSS should
not be in the limelight while harping on a non-existent fracas between the SSS and
the EFCC to make a mountain out of a molehill. Good a thing the SSS PRO did a
good job of schooling the public on the workings of the organization, at least those
that choose to understand, do understand, and those who were susceptible to the
gimmicks of these media agencies have been exonerated from their shackles of
ignorance.
However, the smear campaigns have further degenerated to picking up petty lies
and indolent propaganda and attempting to escalate it in a bid to further dent the
image of the one agency that appears sane. At this point there is a need to reflect
and ponder if these propagators comprehend the gravity of their acts. I have to ask
because as much as some individuals have turned the social media to a platform
where lies are spread and those with enough clout exploit their avenues to
blackmail others, then we may have lost it all, Because to refer to the recent
indecent narratives as quack journalism is elevating it beyond necessary.
Jackson Ude particularly appears to have sold his soul to the devil who bids the
most. It’s clear to see
that his motives are pecuniary, his platform,
pointblanknews.com is widely known for publishing fake news and reportage that
appear to seek the patronage of politicians or notable persons whose sole ambition is to drag
others down. With the right amount, one can approach him to publish this “Jackson
Ude is a fraud’ and he will go about plastering the news on his platforms without a
thought of the harm being done to himself. This is the reality of fake news bloggers
in the country, they write whatever they please and go to sleep with both eyes
closed while smiling hugely to the bank. Unfortunately, this cycle of fake news is
strengthened by the ‘illusion of truth effect’ which states that if we repeat
something often enough, people are more likely to believe it. I particularly pity the
naive Nigerians at the receiving end of his constant intentional mischief.
Nigerians should be wary of individuals like Jackson, he should be termed the
“harbinger of negativity’. He is always spreading fake news about Government
officials, from Governors to ministers to service chiefs among others, isn’t he tired of this cycle? Well, of course he is hungry and needs to feed, but I am sure
Nigerians have seen through his antics and are ready to call his bluff. For starters,
how can an individual that isn’t based in the country think that they know more
about the workings of an organization. I have never seen Jackson extol the SSS for
any of its successful operations which it shared with the public, never seen him
give accolades when accolades are due but he derives so much joy in creating rifts
and tearing down people that have dedicated their lives to the service of the
country. The SSS has been working tooth and nail to ensure that security threats
are nipped in the bud, need I remind Jackson of all the achievements of the SSS
under the administration of Bichi? Perhaps, when he decides to be a patriotic
citizen and visit his beloved country, I would consider lecturing him.
Did I read that Bichi silenced media houses? How laughable!! Jackson is
apparently oblivious of happenings in the country… Never has there been a time in
the history of Nigeria where the SSS has extended open hand of friendship and
collaboration with the traditional media than now, under Bichi’s administration. At
this point, I implore my readers to enquire from any traditional media practitioner
that covers security beat to confirm this statement. Oh……I emphasized traditional
media just in case Jackson and his cohorts are wondering why they haven’t been
included, of course he and his likes are “fake news hawkers’, likening your
“roadside fake news hawking’ to journalism is nothing but an abuse to the
profession, I dare not dent the honorable pen profession.
Jackson claims to be more knowledgeable than President Tinubu, he claims that the
DGSS is involved in contract scams, administrative scandals and subversion of
principles governing the SSS. Did he by any chance inform the President on the
exact nature of these allegations and provide concrete evidence? Or is it his usual
roadside gossips and hearsays? Perhaps, he should return to Nigeria and assist the
President in ruling the nation since he has out-rightly said the President’s decision
to retain the DGSS and DG NIA amounts to poor judgment. Let me remind
Jackson that every quarter of the nation can testify to the nature of the man, Bichi,
his uprightness, dedication to duty, respect of rule of law and high level of integrity
among other exemplary qualities. If he lacked these qualities, even the President
would not take the decision he took, I think it is time for Jackson to rest, actually
what he is doing is not a surprise, smart Nigerians know you are being sponsored,
we know you have been paid as usual and are only playing to the gallery of your
sponsors, so I will leave you with one last word, Jackson, desist from deceiving
gullible Nigerians, your false narratives wreak of desperation and we all know
what happens to desperate people…they take any action at any COST!!!
