Emeka Obioma, a forward for Enyimba and the current top scorer in the Nigerian Professional Football League, has been nominated for the League Bloggers February Player of the Month award, along with five other players. Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, is also among the nominees, and has stood out with four clean sheets and just two goals conceded in the month under review.
The other players in the running for the award are Osarenkhoe Imade of Bendel Insurance, Uche Collins of Akwa United, Joseph Atule of Lobi Stars, and Robert Mizo of Bayelsa United. The performances of each player have been impressive, making it a close contest for the award.
In February, Obioma scored four goals for Enyimba, including braces against El-Kanemi Warriors and 3SC. Collins scored three goals for Akwa United, while Mizo scored three crucial equalizers for Bayelsa United. Last month’s winner, Imade, recorded two goals and an assist for Insurance, while Lobi’s Atule had two goals and two assists.
In the coach of the month category, Monday Odigie of Bendel Insurance will contend with Deji Ayeni of Akwa United, Baba Ganaru of Lobi Stars, and George Finidi of Enyimba. Finidi led Enyimba to three wins, including an away win over Gombe United, while Ayeni managed two wins and two away draws for Akwa United in the month under review.
