The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to immediately direct the contractor to prioritize the completion of the Abuja—Kaduna highway, with the view to achieve completion by the first quarter of 2024.
The resolution was sequel to a motion moved by a member from Kaduna State, Muhammad El-Rufai at plenary.
The lawmaker said the road project which was supposed to be completed within 36 months from inception, has now lingered for over 5 years with no completion date.
El’rufai added, that if the Abuja- Kaduna section of the highway is not completed soon enough, the economic well-being and security of the Nation will continue to be threatened by criminals who are capitalizing on the delay.
Ruling on the Motion, the Speaker Tajudeen Abbas says an adhoc committee will be constituted to facilitate the speedy completion of the road.
