President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of Chairman and members of governing councils of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Among whom were appointed include Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega and former minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma.
The inauguration and retreat for the chairmen and members of the governing councils of tertiary institutions will take place on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31, 2024 in Abuja.
Earlier, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), had issued a two-week ultimatum to the federal government to either constitute the governing councils of universities and tertiary institutions in the country or its members will embark on strike.
