The Nigeria Police has assured Nigerians that they have intervened in the crisis rocking the Rivers State House of Assembly.
There was pandemonium on Monday at the State House of Assembly in Rivers as the lawmakers launched an impeachment proceeding against the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The Governor, Siminalayi Fubara had stormed the State Assembly complex while House members fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.
Governor Fubara had told Journalists in Rivers that he was not bothered about the action of the state assembly to serve an impeachment notice on him.
Fubara challenged the lawmakers and others to clearly state his offence, adding that he does not care about being impeached but vowed to resist an unjust process.
Reacting to the development on its X handle, the Rivers State Police Command said full scale investigation had commenced into the matter with a promise to punish those responsible for the chaotic incident.
The lawmakers had also removed House leader, Edison Ehie for alleged supervision of the burning of the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
